Central Depository System (CDS) Account Application Form

The Central Depository & Settlement Corporation Limited (CDSC) is a limited liability Company approved by the Capital Markets Authority under Section 5 of the Central Depositories Act, 2000 to establish and operate a system for the central handling of deliveries and settlement of securities in the Capital Markets in Kenya. CDSC establishes and operates a central depository system and provide central clearing, settlement and depository services for securities initially in Kenya in respect to securities listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Per the Capital Markets Authority regulations, you are required to fill in a CDSC Account opening Application form (CDS 1) before you can start selling or buying shares.

How to Fill the form

To open a CDS account, please follow the guide below.

1. Each applicant must complete a CDS Account Opening form. The form is available for download by clicking this link.

2. The CDS Account Opening form must be completed in ink and in capital (BLOCK LETTERS) letters.

3. Names on the CDS Account Opening form must be written in the same way as they appear on the supporting identification document (National ID/Passport/Alien certificate).

4. Any alterations or errors must be countersigned.

5. The CDS Account Opening form must be accompanied by the following:

Individual accounts

  • Two recent passport-sized pictures. Pictures must be in colour.
  • A copy of the National identity card/valid Passport/Alien certificate.
  • A copy of the PIN Certificate

Corporate accounts

  • Two recent passport-sized pictures of all indicated signatories. Pictures must be in colour
  • A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation/Registration.
  • A copy of the ID/Passport of the Signatories.
  • A copy of the Certified KRA Pin Certificate for the Signatories and the Entity
  • CDS1 form to be Stamped on the Declaration part
  • Recent CR12
  • Board Resolution / Minutes to open CDS Account.

Junior Accounts

  • Birth Certificate of a minor
  • ID copy for the Guardian
  • KRA Pin Certificate of the Guardian
  • Two recent passport-sized pictures for the Minor and Guardian.

6. To use our online trading platform, download and fill out the email indemnity form.

7. Once you complete the forms please scan and send them to customerservice@drummond.co.ke or drop them off at our offices – Finance House, 14th floor, Nairobi. (Loita Street Nairobi)
